Lavrov to Visit Ashgabat in Preparation For Caspian Summit

Foreign Minister of Russia Sergey Lavrov will take part in a meeting of foreign ministers of Caspian littoral states on June 28 in Turkmenistan’s capital Ashgabat, TASS news agency cites the Spokesperson of the Russian Foreign Ministry Maria Zakharova as saying on a Wednesday press briefing.

Zakharova said the meeting will focus on preparations for the sixth Caspian summit, which is scheduled for June 29 in Turkmen capital.

The foreign ministers meeting in Ashgabat will discuss cooperation in the Caspian Sea and modalities for further interaction in preparation for the upcoming meeting of the Presidents of the Caspian countries, Maria Zakharova added.

The previous summit of Caspian littoral states was held in Aktau city of Kazakhstan on August 12, 2018. The summit resulted in the signing of the Convention on the Legal Status of the Caspian Sea.
