Lukoil to participate in the development of the Dostluk field in the Caspian Sea

Today, President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov received the head of Russia’s largest energy company Vagit Alekperov.

The sides discussed the prospects for partnership in the oil and gas sphere, and, in particular, in the Caspian Sea, as a strategically important region in this regard.Regarded in that light, the significance of the Memorandum of Understanding on joint exploration and development of hydrocarbon resources of the Dostluk field in the Caspian Sea signed recently between the Governments of Turkmenistan and Azerbaijan was underlined.

Berdimuhamedov praised the readiness of Lukoil to participate in this promising project. Alekperov assured the Turkmen leader that the company would make every effort to successfully develop the Dostluk field, having expressed confidence that the signing of an agreement on it will become a new stage of cooperation.

He also said that along with the development of this field in accordance with environmental requirements, the new ones would be explored.
