Malta President expresses hope for development of cooperation with Turkmenistan

President of the Republic of Malta Miriam Spiteri Debono expressed hope for further development of bilateral cooperation with Turkmenistan.

In her message to President Serdar Berdimuhamedov on the occasion of the 33rd anniversary of Turkmenistan's independence, she noted that despite the geographical distance, Malta and Turkmenistan maintain friendly relations based on mutual respect, TDH reports.

I am also confident that our cooperation will develop in a multilateral format, including within the framework of the United Nations, in order to address issues and challenges of mutual interest, Debono emphasized.

Miriam Spiteri Debono also noted Malta's active support for cooperation between the EU and Turkmenistan, which is reflected in regional initiatives, including the Joint Roadmap for Deepening Ties between the EU and Central Asia, endorsed during the 19th Ministerial Meeting in Brussels last October.

In conclusion of the message, the President of the Republic of Malta wished President Serdar Berdimuhamedov good health and well-being, and Turkmenistan peace, progress and prosperity.
