Correspondents of “Chronicles of Turkmenistan” report that stores selling consumer and household goods, clothes and footwear have re-opened at “Altyn Asyr” market. It is expected that all retail outlets which have been closed because of the COVID-19 pandemic will be operating again ahead of the New Year’s holiday.
Since the start of the pandemic Turkmenistan has refused to acknowledge COVID-19 cases on its territory but has been imposing COVID-19 prevention measures.
The restaurant on the second floor of “Altyn Asyr” shopping centre has been operating since 11 December, 2021.The shopping centre “15 years of independence” re-opened on 16 December after the personnel had been tested and got vaccinated.
On 18 December, 2021 only one amusement ride was open in an Ashgabat park and there were few people.
On 19 December bazaars, markets and cafes re-opened in Dashoguz. Prices in the markets slightly dropped.
The news outlet “Turkmenistan: golden age” reports that on 18 December, 2021 theatres also re-opened in Ashgabat.
Radio “Azatlyk” also reports that after a four month break vendors in Ashgabat markets have been permitted to resume trade from 17-18 December if they present a negative COVID-19 certificate.
In addition to negative COVID-19 certificate vendors and shop assistants are obliged to wear masks, gloves and use sanitizers.
Small business owners were also informed that they need to make money contributions to buy Christmas lights and Christmas trees for the decoration of streets, according to Radio “Azatlyk”.
