Semi-final fights of Turkmenistan Boxing Championship were held in the capital Olympic village.Strongest boxers of the country contested to qualify to the final and those who lost had to content to the third places and the bronze.
Taking into consideration the importance of the meeting on the ring, the fights were exciting and rose great interest of numerous spectators and guests of the competition.
The third day of the competitions was opened by women semi-final contests in the lightest weight category up to 48 kg.the first round of the fight where Govher Begdjanova representing the team of Balkan Velayat bet on quick jabs while Gulshat Polatova from Ashgabat responded with accurate counterattacks, was quite smooth.
The second round turned into almost synchronized and sometimes chaotic exchange of strikes.The final third round was held by the sportswoman from the capital in active vein, having made series of good punches what decided the result of the fight.
G.Polatova as the first finalist of the tournament, having provided the opportunity of further contest for the gold for herself.
The second qualification to the final in the same category was after Shahrizada Merdanova from Lebap Velayat who took over the girl for northern region of the country Gulhumur Atabayeva. Being more accurate in strikes, Shahrizada has managed to otganize the pressure on the competitor from the beginning of the fight.
Final pair in women in weight category up to 54 kg has also defined.Chemen Durdyklycheva representing Dashoguz Velayat and Guljeren Saparova from the capital have met in the first semi-final.
Chemen tried to use the advantage of her height trying to hit the competitor with distant strikes and holding her on the distance.While the first seconds of the first round were quite smooth, later, Ch.
Durdyklycheva unravelled the tactics of her rival and successfully responded her by counterattacks.As the result, the sportswoman from Ashgabat had to surrender, having finished the fight without waiting for the end of the first round.
The second semi-final of this weight category has also finished beforehand in the first round.It was won by Selbi Kuvusheva, who having actively started the fight with number of precise strikes.
The referee had to start counting the knock-out but Givher Hamrayeva has managed to continue the fight.However, after a minute, the coaches decided to take her from the ring.
Both athletes represented the team from Lebap velayat.
After completion of the fights in women, honoured guests of the competitions Vice-President of International Amateur Boxing Association and President of Asian Boxing Confederation Serik Konakbayev, professional boxing celebrities, WBA and IBF Champion Denis Lebedev, Olympic Champion Oleg Sayitov as well as famous sportsmen and actor, 1995 World Mix Fight Champion Oleg Taktarov addressed greeting speech to the participants of the competitions and spectators.
The speakers noted high level of organization of the competitions and dedication of the sportsmen.
After, the fight were continued among the men intense series of semi-finals with two fights in each weight category was ahead. Claiming the right to continue the fight for the gold, the sportsmen tried to do their best and to demonstrate all their skills.
First, the fights in the weight category up to 49 kg has have started. Begench Anageldiyev representing the team of Lebap Velayat has started the fight very actively making sensitive punches, especially counter ones. After effective “twos”, his rival Omar Hajiyev from Balkan was knocked down and the referee stopped the fight.
The second semi-final where Jabar Meleyev from Lebap and Dayanch Annaseyidov from Ashgabat have met was very dynamic, which is typical for the fights in light weight.The sportsmen was moving fast striking sharp blows.
By the end of the second round, the boxer from the capital continued keeping high rate while his counterpart started to get tired.Dayanch continued attacking in the third round, however Jabar has chosen right tactics and fighting from defence every time met the opponent accurately what helps him to win in the end.
In semi-final fight in weight category up to 52 kg, the fight was decided by the difference in height of the participants both representing the capital.Taller Mergen Melyaev tried to hold the opponent away while Sohbet Gokjayev tried to break the distance.
At the end of the third round, Mergen managed to blow left side strike, after which the opponent lost the chance to win.M.Melyaev guaranteed his place in the final.
The first semi-final in the weight category up to 56 kg was quite quick; its winner Begench Myratguliyev from Ashgabat knocked down Begench Myratduliyev representing Mary Velayat. After, B. Alimov continued attacking and the coaches of opponent decided to stop the fight.
Another boxer from Ashgabat Yakub Meredov was the second finalist in the same category.He took the initiative in his hands; however, the victory was not easy for him.
Zarip Achilov from Lebap Velayat was wisely defending and yet he managed to strike accurate punches.However, in the third round, Z.Achilov started to miss the series of strikes on body and it predetermined the result of the fight.
Fight between two sportsmen from Ashgabat begmyrat Halmyradov and Hursend Imankulyev opened the semi-final contests in the weight category up to 60 kg.having confidently started the fight, H.
Imankuliyev has managed to miss powerful right hook, however by the end of the fight he was more accurate and won again.The competitors chose the moments for strikes skilfully and often their attack were simultaneous.
Yazmyrat Gurbanov from Ashgabat was the winner of the second semi-final where he confidently took over last year finalist of the Championship Arslan Urunov representing Lebap Velayat. Ashgabat sportsman took initiative from the middle of the first round after the series of precise punches in the head and continued attacking.
It was exclusively the boxers from the capital who competed in both semi-finals of up to 64 kg weight category.Togrulbek Pazziyev and Zufar Saparbayev demonstrated reliable defence during active attacks in the first round.
In the second round, the attacking was prevailing.In the third, the blows of Togrulbek were more accurate what allowed him winning the fight.
The second semi-final in the same weight category was equal; all three rounds were held under active attacking of both sportsmen who were fighting for the victory until the last seconds. In the result, the referees decided that Muhammet Berdybayev was more accurate than Shohrat Durdiyev.
The first finalists in the weight category up to 69 kg was defined in the fight between Serdar Amangeldiyev from Ashgabat and Bagtiyar Jorayev from Lebap who, having occupied the middle of the ring, was actively pressing and made several powerful strikes. Nevertheless, S. Amangeldiyev successfully avoided the punches, made several successful series and won the fight.
In the second semi-final, Muhammetmyrat Sahedov from Ashgabat started the match with active pressing however could not achieve the success. His competitor timur Tajimov from Dashoguz was good in counter blows and in the second round, he made exchange of the attacks and won.
Two boxers from the capital have met in the weight category up to 75 kg. The victory was after Nursahet Pazziyev who dominated during all three rounds. By the end of the fight, his opponent Maksat Geldinazarov went in deep defence and almost did not respond to attacks.
Aziz Achilov from Ashgabat team who made powerful blows almost throughout the whole fight was also qualified for the final. It was only the second round when his opponent Resul Yeldashev from northern region of the country was able to make a series of return punches but after again went into deep defence.
The first semi-final in up to 81 kg weight category between two sportsmen of the capital was very short. The fate of the fight was decided by one accurate and powerful right hook punch made by Nuryagdy Nuryagdiyev on the second minute of the fight. Yazmuhammet Orazov could not continue the fight after that.
Unlike the first, the second fight was quite stubborn. Ustabek Samandarov from Dashoguz who had advantage in the first round and was stronger in the third won the fight. Mammet Altiyev from Lebap team who managed to take over the initiative in the second round tried to oppose him but it was not enough.
The fights of the most prestigious heavy and super-heavy weight categories ended up the semi-finals of Turkmenistan Boxing Championship.
The first fight of the athletes in the weight category up to 91 kg was probably the shortest one in the tournament. Aslanbek Achilov representing the team from Lebap Velayat had twenty seconds enough to knock down his opponent, after which the seconds of Meylis Yeshmiyev from Balkan decided to stop the fight.
The fight of the second semi-final was more or less equal. Shohrat Hojanepesov from Lebap team was pressing while Armen Pogosyan from Ashgabat chose defensive tactics responding by counterattacks. Both boxers were very accurate as one missed blow could decide the fate of the fight. However, the referees were more loyal to Sh. Hojanepesov.
Acting champion of the country Shohrat Pirimanov form Lebap and Baky Toychiyev from Ashgabat met in the first semi-final in super-heavy weight above 91 kg.the first round ended up with some advantage of the champion.
In the second round, his opponent was able to make several attacks, however it did not resulted in any serious punches but allowed to change the course of the fight.
As the result, the referees gave preference to B.Toychiyev.
The second semi-final turned into the fight of power and mobility and started from the knock-down of Tejen Hommadov by Atajan Nurgeldiyev, both from Ashgabat. Having recovered after the blow, T. Hommadov made series of strikes to the opponent but, having missed another powerful counter strike, could not continue the fight. A. Nurgeldiyev won by technical KO.
