National Logistics and Freight Association set up in Turkmenistan

Modernization of domestic transportation systems and increasing the volume of cargo and passenger transportation along “North-South” and “West-East” routes were on the agenda of the government session held on 25 May.

In this connection President Gurbanguly Berdymukhammedov approved establishing the National Logistics and Shipping Association.

Minister of Foreign Affairs Rashid Meredov was authorized to undertake measures to join International Federation of Freight Forwarders Associations (FIATA), the state information agency TDH reports.

On 24 May the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) concluded a five-day workshop designed to help transport and logistics companies in Turkmenistan improve their management systems and increase their export opportunities.

The workshop addressed the key benefits of integrated management systems, which allow companies to combine all of their procedures and processes into one complete framework to reduce the volume of documentation and the costs of service delivery, the US Embassy in Ashgabat reports.
