National Parliament of Turkmenistan Makes Amendments to Administrative and Territorial Division of Ashgabat

To bring up the administrative and territorial division of Ashgabat to modern standards; to aggregate municipal districts; in the light of a request by the Ashgabat City Administration and proposal by the Cabinet of Ministers of Turkmenistan; under the Law of Turkmenistan “On Procedures of Resolving Issues of Administrative and Territorial Division of Turkmenistan”, the National Parliament of Turkmenistan has decided:

1.To abolish the municipal districts of Abadan and Ruhabat of the city of Ashgabat, and assign their territories to the relevant districts of the city of Ashgabat.

2.To rename the municipal district of Archabil of the city of Ashgabat, assigning it the name of Buzmeyin, and refer to it as the municipal district of Buzmeyin of the city of Ashgabat.

3.To set the boundaries for the administrative territories of the municipal districts of Bagtyyarlyk, Berkararlyk, Buzmeyin and Kopetdag of the city of Ashgabat in accordance with the annex to this resolution.

4.To make relevant amendments to the List of Administrative and Territorial Units of Turkmenistan approved by the resolution of the National Parliament of Turkmenistan (ref.no.112-IV of 10 May 2010; Newsletter of the National Parliament of Turkmenistan, 2010, vol.2, art.36).

5.To assign the State Committee of Turkmenistan on Nature Protection and Land Resources, together with the Ashgabat City Administration, with the task of describing the administrative and territorial boundaries of the city of Ashgabat under the set procedures.

6.This Resolution shall enter into force from the date of its signing.
