Netflix has shipped its latest DVD subscription

The streaming service Netflix sent a DVD to its subscribers for the last time, reports The Hollywood Reporter.

Netflix has been sending DVDs of new releases to its subscribers since 1998. During this time, Netflix acquired 40 million subscribers and shipped more than 5,2 billion discs. In April 2023, it was announced that this service would be discontinued.

The first disc sent was of Tim Burton's “Beetlejuice”, and the last was of 2010's “True Grit”.

Netflix published a farewell video about the discs and their future fate.
