New eruption of Etna Volcano

In Sicily, after several months of relative calm, Etna Volcano has reactivated. According to euronews, one of the most active volcanoes in Europe threw ash and smoke into the sky to a height of 12 km.

According to the National Institute of Geophysics and Volcanology of Italy, a lava flow poured down the southeastern slope of the mountain. There are no reports of casualties or significant damage.

The stratovolcano Etna, on the east coast of Sicily, is the highest active volcano in Europe. In June 2013, the volcano was listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
