On 17 November President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdymukhammedov held a regular session of the Cabinet of Ministers.
The state information agency TDH reports that a new periodical of the Ministry of Economy and Finance was proposed to be founded at the event based on the magazines “Altyn asyryň ykdysadyýeti” and “Türkmenistanyň salgyt ulgamy”.
The President highlighted “the importance of covering and raising the awareness of general public on the social and economic achievements of the country” and instructed to look into the issues associated with the establishment of the new media outlet.
It should be mentioned that there is a mandatory subscription to specialized newspapers and magazines.
For instance, conscripts are urged to subscribe to the newspaper “Esger” (“Warrior”) and the magazine “Goshun” (“Army”).
In November it became known to “Chronicles of Turkmenistan” that public sector employees and athletes are urged to buy the magazine “Politika i obshchestvo” (“Politics and society”).
