Observers from Turkmenistan took part in the presidential elections in Azerbaijan

Representatives of the Central Commission for Elections and Referendums in Turkmenistan observed the progress of the early presidential elections in Azerbaijan as part of a mission of international observers from the CIS, reports the website of the Turkmen Central Election Commission.

The delegation of Turkmenistan assessed compliance with democratic procedures and observed voting at polling stations on election day, February 7. Meetings also were held between the heads of the central election commissions of both countries.

At 6537 polling stations, including 49 abroad, 790 international observers and 109 foreign journalists monitored the voting process. Video cameras were installed at 1000 polling stations.

76,73% of Azerbaijan's 6,5 million registered voters took part in the voting. According to the election results, Ilham Aliyev was re-elected to the post of President of Azerbaijan with a result of 92,12% of the votes.
