Online concert of the Galkynysh Turkmen-Austrian Orchestra was held in Ashgabat and Vienna

The Viennese musical extravaganza was performed on the stage of the Makhtumkuli National Music and Drama Theater. The Ministry of Culture and the Diplomatic Mission of Turkmenistan in Austria have prepared an international event dedicated to the 25th anniversary of the country’s neutrality.

Minister of Culture of Turkmenistan Atageldy Shamuradov made a triumphant speech at the Ashgabat concert venue, congratulating the founder and President of the Turkmen-Austrian Society Neda Berger on the 65th anniversary of Austrian neutrality, which was celebrated in Austria this year.

In response, Neda Berger thanked the Turkmen side for fruitful cooperation and read out a congratulatory poem written in honor of the 25th anniversary of Turkmenistan’s neutrality:

… Allah blesses Turkmenistan, Blesses your children and grandchildren He blesses your neutrality!

From time immemorial, the art of music promotes the rapprochement of peoples. And the only Turkmen-Austrian Symphony Orchestra in Europe, Galkynysh, has been successfully proving this during 11 years.

The two capitals of Turkmenistan and Austria focus on the rich musical heritage that continues to exist and sound in different countries of the world thanks to musicians and the Turkmen-Austrian Society, whose main goal is mutual understanding, community and intercultural dialogue.

Continuing the chronicle of cultural meetings at the international level, taking into account the current epidemiological situation in the world, the musicians of the Turkmen-Austrian orchestra played a large online concert in Ashgabat and Vienna in real time.

Over the last year, the format of virtual concert events has become firmly ingrained in our lives, but even in it you can find its advantages, because now it is absolutely clear that there are no barriers for music.

Today, the best musical compositions performed by the State Symphony Orchestra under the baton of Rasul Klychev and the Austrian Music Quartet under the direction of conductor Wolfgang Harrer, founder and artistic Director of the Galkynysh Orchestra, are performed at two cultural venues.

The online concert contained musical compositions by composers Johann Strauss, Wolfgang Mozart, Nury Halmamedov and Rejep Rejepov. As the Symphony orchestra conductor Rasul Klychev notes, his team was lucky to collaborate with famous Austrian musicians, and thanks to their guidance, Austrian classics are performed at a high level on the Turkmen stage.

Formed in 2009, the Galkynysh Symphony Orchestra is a large group consisting of Turkmen and Austrian musicians. Every year, the capital of Turkmenistan becomes a venue for the Vienna Ball, where the leading role is played by the established international orchestra. The musicians perform classical music by both Turkmen and European composers.
