Over ten years, more than 76 thousand bar codes have been issued in Turkmenistan

Over the 10 years of operation, the National Organization of Turkmenistan for Barcodes has issued over 76 thousand barcodes. On March 27, the National Organization of Turkmenistan for Barcodes (NOTSC), which is a member of the international structure GS1, celebrated its 10th anniversary. On this occasion, a general meeting of the organization's members was traditionally held.

During the event, the chairman of NOTSHK, Aykamar Myalikgulyeva, presented a detailed overview of the organization’s activities over the past decade and the work program for 2023-2024.

The program provides for the introduction of automatic identification technologies and GS1 standards into various sectors of the economy of Turkmenistan, writes the online publication Vestiabad.ru with reference to gs1-tm.org.

In her report, Aykamar Myalikgulyeva noted the achievements of NOTSHK in these areas and outlined tasks for the coming period.As the head of the organization reported, at the moment more than 76 thousand bar codes have been issued, and domestic products have been assigned the appropriate labeling.

NOTSHK has fully covered the automatic identification system of Turkmen producers, which is a reliable guarantee for their entry into world markets.

According to Myalikgulyeva, the NOTSHK includes 2,440 structures, including ministries, line departments, public and private organizations and enterprises.

The head of the organization emphasized that over 10 years, NOTSHK has achieved membership in the international organization GS1, created the National Technical Committee for Standardization and opened a verification laboratory in 2017 to monitor compliance of barcode application with international standards.

Over the past decade, work has been successfully done to harmonize national standards with international documents and actively implement international and interstate standards. The “Made in Turkmenistan” website developed by NOTSHK contributed to the improvement of the information database on Turkmen manufacturers,” Myalikgulyeva noted.

At the end of the meeting, the participants heard the report of the control and audit commission and considered a number of organizational issues.
