Pakistan Strives For Timely Completion of Its Energy Projects

The Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan Rashid Meredov held a meeting Foreign Minister of Pakistan Shah Mahmood Qureshi on Saturday in Islamabad. During the meeting, Qureshi reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment for timely completion of energy projects.

The meeting was held on the sidelines of the Extraordinary meeting of the Council of Foreign Ministers of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) on humanitarian situation in Afghanistan in Islamabad.

Pakistan’s Foreign Minister underscored the need for enhancing bilateral trade and investment cooperation with Turkmenistan, Pakistani Foreign Ministry said in its press release on the meeting.

Both sides stressed the importance of continued engagement of the international community for sustainable peace and stability in Afghanistan.

In its statement, the Foreign Ministry of Turkmenistan said the meeting paid special attention to partnership in the energy sector.

The sides considered joint actions for intensifying interactions on the implementation of the Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan-India (TAPI) gas pipeline project, Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan power transmission lines and fiber-optic communication lines.
