Paris Hosts Conference on Prospects for TurkmenFrench Cooperation

The Institute for International and Strategic Studies (IRIS) in Paris hosted a conference titled “TurkmenFrench Relations: Challenges and Prospects in a Fragmented World,” organized jointly by IRIS and the Embassy of Turkmenistan in France, the Turkmen Embassy reported Wednesday.

The event was dedicated to the International Year of Peace and Trust, the 30th anniversary of Turkmenistan’s permanent neutrality, and the promotion of the literary legacy of prominent Turkmen poet Magtymguly Fragi.

The conference brought together representatives from diplomatic, academic and cultural circles of both countries, as well as research centers and academic institutions.

Participants highlighted the importance of TurkmenFrench partnership and emphasized Turkmenistan’s neutrality as a factor of stability. Discussions also focused on advancing projects within European initiatives, developing regional transport infrastructure, and exploring opportunities for cooperation in green energy, including methane emissions monitoring.

A book exhibition held on the sidelines of the conference featured works by Turkmenistan’s President Serdar Berdimuhamedov, publications by Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, editions on Magtymguly Fragi, and materials dedicated to the International Year of Peace and Trust.

In May 2025, Turkmenistan and France signed several key intergovernmental agreements aimed at expanding bilateral cooperation across various sectors.
