Paris will lift ban on swimming in Seine after 100 years

The Paris authorities intend to allow swimming in the Seine after a 100-year hiatus. Currently, work is underway to clean the water in the main river of the French capital, MIR 24 reports with reference to the Le Parisien newspaper.

As noted in the source, the ban, which was in effect for about a hundred years, is being lifted in connection with the holding of the 2024 Olympics in France.

According to the program of the Games, on the organization of which the Paris authorities have already spent 1.4 billion euros, three Olympic and Paralympic competitions will be held on the Seine. We are talking about triathlon, marathon swimming and paratriathlon.

After the Olympics, three open-air swimming areas will be available from the Seine embankment.
