Effective 1 March, 2021 the rail service has been partially resumed in Turkmenistan. Türkmendemirýollary (Turkmenistan railways”) launched train service from Ashgabat to Turkmenabat on Wednesdays and from Turkmenabat to Ashgabat on Thursdays.
On 2 March, 2021 the news outlet Jeuhun News reported that the public health authority of Lebap velayat provided explanations regarding resumed rail service “Ashgabat-Turkmenabat-Ashgabat” in the newspaper “Türkmen gündogary”.
Passengers bound to Ashgabat need to get tested for COVID-19 in the medical examination room at the railway station of Turkmenabat.
The website Turkmenportal previously reported that train crew members are obliged to disinfect train carriages every 3 to 4 hours and together with representatives of the Road Traffic Police need to make sure passengers wear masks and keep social distancing.
