Performance by Galkynysh National Equestrian Group Adds Crowning Touch to Fourth Day of Culture Week

The Culture Week will be remembered by fellow citizens and guests of the country as a bright constellation of events.This large-scale campaign dedicated to the Day of Workers of Culture and Art and Magtymguly Pyragy’s Poetry Day turned into a great celebration that aims to promote the spiritual and cultural heritage and unique traditions of the Turkmen people.

The fourth day of the Week was rich in interesting events organized in different parts of Ahal province. In the morning, the Gökdepe National Museum hosted a conference headlined “The Great Silk Road and Historical Significance of Museum Valuables” that gathered intellectuals, historians and archaeologists, restorers and museum professionals of our country.

Participants of the forum noted that the study of the national history, preservation and global promotion of the physical and cultural heritage of the people are among main focuses of the government policy.

As custodians of artifacts and major research and educational centers of the country, museums play a crucial role in implementing this work.Turkmenistan’s ancient history that stretches back five thousand years, its customs, the country’s achievements in the modern era are reflected in richest expositions.

Museum funds are particularly proud of priceless rarities, results of painstaking work of Turkmen archaeologists.The history of our people is portrayed here in antique household items that reconstruct the Turkmens’ ways of life.

As noted by the head of state, our country is rich in historical and cultural monuments that testify to the high level of construction and development of crafts that served as a basis for emergence and bloom of decorative and applied art, national architecture, music and literature.

Settlements of Nisa, Ancient Merv, Koneurgench, Dehistan, Old Saragt, Abiverd and Gokdepe Fort are peculiar open-air museums that the government declared historic and cultural reserves.

Development of museology, study of material and spiritual values of both national and universal significance were discussed at the conference. The collection of museum exhibits dedicated to the Great Silk Road was presented to the participants as part of the forum.

Also today, bagshy performed in Yzgant village of Gokdepe district. The concert featured renowned singers that Turkmens refer to as halypa, their young and talented students, destan singers and folk singers from provinces and the capital.

Performance by the Galkynysh national equestrian group at the State Circus was one of the highlights of the Week. Turkmen jigits on Ahal Teke horses demonstrated their fine skills, courage and agility.

The fourth day of the creative forum climaxed with the concert of masters of culture from Balkan and Dashoguz provinces. Folk and foreign music, songs and fiery dances were performed on the open stage in front of the Cultural Center of the town of Anew the administrative center of Ahal province.
