Photo exhibition Turkmenistan is the heart of the Great Silk Road took place in St. Petersburg

The grand opening of the photo exhibition and presentation of President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov's book "Turkmenistan is the heart of the Great Silk Road" took place in the historical park "Russia is my history" on May 22.

The deputy chairman of the Committee on Interethnic Relations Vadim Okrushko, the chief mufti of St.Petersburg, the staff of the Committee for External Relations and the St.

Petersburg House of Nationalities, the leaders of the national cultural associations of the city, representatives of the Turkmen diaspora, students and activists of youth associations, scientists and artists took part in the ceremony.

The photo exhibition "Turkmenistan is the heart of the Great Silk Road" reflects the concept of President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov to popularize the unique historical and cultural heritage of the country, archaeological and natural attractions, large-scale achievements, tourist potential, rich traditions and customs of the Turkmen people.

The 80 works of photo artists made possible to make an exciting visual journey through unique archaeological monuments of different epochs located on the territory of Turkmenistan.It also allowed to admire the architectural masterpieces of medieval architects, enrich their knowledge of the natural sights of the country, appreciate the graceful beauty of Akhalteke horses, the refinement of the famous Turkmen carpets and works of zergers, to experience the energetic rhythms of changes embodied in a dynamic architectural style of the white-marble Ashgabat.

National traditions are represented through the everyday scenes - in photo-sketches of episodes of a wedding, preparation and holding of sadaka, folk festivals.

The head of the Society of Turkmen Culture “Mekan”, appreciating the granting the venue for the exhibition, gave a representative of the Directorate of the Historical Park a copy of the picture of the artist Vladimir Artykov "Hojanepes at Peter I", stressing the importance of intensifying the humanitarian ties of Turkmenistan and the City on the Neva.

The audience was presented with folklore compositions of countries and regions in the concert part of the program, along which passed the Great Silk Road. Activists of the Council of Turkmen students in St. Petersburg "Bagtyyarlyk" acquainted guests with the art of Bakhshi.

The event was organized by the Department of the Humanitarian Association of World Turkmens in St.Petersburg and Northwest Russia - the Society of Turkmen Culture in St.Petersburg “Mekan” and the Cultural Center "Near East" with the support of the Committee on Interethnic Relations and Implementation of Migration Policy in St.

Petersburg, St.Petersburg GKU "St.Petersburg House of Nationalities", the Historical Park "Russia is my history".
