Portugal's President Expresses Interest in Visiting Turkmenistan

Portuguese President António José Seguro expressed interest in visiting Turkmenistan in the future, Turkmenistan's Ministry of Foreign Affairs said.

Seguro made the remarks during a brief exchange with Turkmenistan's Ambassador to Portugal, Maksat Charyyev, at an official reception at Ajuda National Palace in Lisbon on Monday.

During the meeting, Charyyev conveyed congratulations from Turkmenistan President Serdar Berdimuhamedov on Seguro’s victory in the presidential election and extended best wishes on assuming the country's highest office.

The Turkmen diplomat also attended the official inauguration ceremony of Seguro as the new president of the Portuguese Republic.

The ceremony was held in the plenary hall of the Assembly of the Republic and was attended by senior Portuguese officials, Cabinet members, members of parliament and high-level foreign delegations.
