Potato Sowing Starts in Turkmenistan

Farmers in Ahal, Balkan, Lebap and Mary velayats have started planting potatoes, the country’s official media reported on Thursday.

This year, early varieties of potatoes will be grown in 30 thousand hectares of land in the country.

The production of potatoes in Turkmenistan this year includes usage of modern agricultural equipment tractors with potato seeders and sprinklers, which can significantly save water resources.

A new crop of potatoes is expected to be harvested in early summer.

This year, Turkmenistan will grow vegetables, including potatoes, and melon crops on 106 thousand hectares of land.
