President Berdymukhammedov’s in-laws identified among the motorway contractors

Journalists of Turkmen.news have found out that one of the four companies contracted to build the Ashgabat-Turkmenabad highway “Nussay Yollary” is headed by Annanazar Rejepov husband of President Berdymukhammedov’s elder sister Durdynabat Rejepova.

According to the new outlet, Annanazar Rejepov, together with his son Khadzhimurad, controls several authorized companies, which own the best administrative buildings, retail areas and manufacturing facilities across the country and on a regular basis receive profitable government contracts, including the contract to build Ashgabat-Turkmenabad motorway, worth $2,3 billion.

Sole roprietorship “Nussay Yollary”, which belongs to the Rejepovs, is one of the co-founders of AOZT “Turkmen Autobahn” and thus, acts as the customer and the general contractor. Moreover, “Nussay Yollary” is also one of the subcontractors, which will be directly performing the construction works.

It turns out that during the construction of the Ashgabat-Turkmenabad highway the Rejepovs will generate profit three times: as the customer, general contractor and finally, as subcontractors, the media outlet reports.

Let us recall that the construction of the motorway was launched on 24 January 2019. The President’s son Serdar Berdymukhammedov attended the ground-breaking ceremony.

The 600 kilometer motorway is expected to be commissioned in December 2023.

The Turkmen companies were charged with the task of building the motorways Ashgabat-Turkmenabad and Ashgabat-Turkmenbashi after Turkey-based Polimex had refused to build the motorway using the company’s own funds and then reimburse the expenses from the revenues the toll motorway was expected to generate in the future.
