President of Kazakhstan resigned as the chairman of ruling party

The President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev announced his decision to leave the post of chairman of the ruling “Amanat” party and resign from it. “From now on I have decided to terminate my powers as the Chairman of the Amanat and resign from the party.

This step has a symbolic meaning”, - said Tokayev at the “Amanat” congress.Tokayev noted that the head of state should not give priority to any party, and his resign from the party would contribute to the growth of the authority of the organization, reports rbc.ru.

Yerlan Koshanov speaker of the lower house of the Republican Parliament (Mazhilis) was elected as the new chairman of the party. Tokayev was elected chairman of the ruling party at the end of January 2022. The former President of Kazakhstan Nursultan Nazarbayev headed the party before him.
