President of Turkmenistan expressed condolences in connection with the train crash in Iran

Today President Serdar Berdimuhamedov sent sincere condolences to the President of the Islamic Republic of Iran Sayyid Ebrahim Raisi in connection with the train crash that occurred in the province of South Khorasan, which caused numerous human casualties and injuries.

On behalf of the people and the government of the country, as well as on his own behalf, the head of Turkmenistan conveyed words of deep empathy and support to the relatives and friends of the victims at this difficult moment, as well as wishes for a speedy recovery to the injured, the Information Program "Watan" of the Turkmen Television reported.

The number of victims of a passenger train crash in the Iranian province of South Khorasan has increased to 21, the Iranian Tasnim News Agency reported on Wednesday.

The number of the injured is 86 people.

The accident occurred at about 05:30 a.m. on June 8, when a train from Mashhad to Yazd with 348 passengers on board hooked an excavator working in the immediate vicinity of the tracks about 50 kilometers from the city of Tebes. Five of the 11 cars derailed, some of them overturned.

A rescue operation was launched at the scene of the emergency, several medical and rescue teams were involved, as well as two helicopters.
