Presidents of Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan Launch Shavat-Dashoguz Cross-Border Trade Zone

Turkmenistan's President Serdar Berdimuhamedov and Uzbekistan's President Shavkat Mirziyoyev participated Monday in Tashkent in the launch ceremony of the Shavat-Dashoguz joint cross-border trade zone, according to the press service of the President of Uzbekistan.

The facility includes administrative buildings for the directorate, customs, quarantine, phytosanitary, and veterinary services, as well as a trade pavilion and warehouse facilities.

The zone will also host government services through a “single window” system and interactive platforms, along with banking, medical, and hotel services. A large parking area has also been arranged.

The operation of the zone is expected to strengthen trade and economic ties between Uzbekistan’s Khorezm region and Turkmenistan’s Dashoguz province.

Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan have also agreed to scale up cross-border trade in the Alat-Farab area.
