On 26 May “Chronicles of Turkmenistan” reported that the fire had broken out in Ashgabat.
According to our sources, the printing house owned by “Nurana Reklama” located at the address 2, Kemine street, burnt down. The company is reported to be owned by one of the President’s relatives.
Large government orders were executed here, including printing of advertising billboards. Moreover, teachers from the capital and provinces were urged to buy posters and other products for the decoration of classrooms at this printing house.
At the same time, the cheapest A2 format poster was sold at no less than 100 manats ($28,5 using the government-established exchange rate).
After extinguishing fire, police officers failed to find the remains of printers, plotters and other printing equipment despite the fact that less than six months ago new equipment was reportedly purchased.
It is known that a decision has been previously made pursuant to which all ministries are obliged to have in-house printing facilities. The equipment of this privately-owned company might have been sold out to government agencies.
