Prospects for cooperation between Turkmenistan and the Slovak Republic discussed in Ashgabat

On 18 June 2026, a meeting was held in Ashgabat between the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan Ahmet Gurbanov, and the State Secretary of the Ministry of Economy of the Slovak Republic, Vladimir Šimonjak, as well as the Ambassador of the Slovak Republic to Turkmenistan (with residence in Tashkent), Viktor Borecky.

About this reports MFA of Turkmenistan.During the meeting, the sides discussed priority areas of bilateral cooperation.An exchange of views took place on the outcomes of the first meeting of the Joint TurkmenSlovak Commission on Economic Cooperation, held on the eve in Ashgabat.

It was noted that the Commission’s activities open up big opportunities for expanding trade and economic cooperation and deepening partnership in priority areas.Mutual interest was confirmed in further developing political dialogue and intensifying high-level contacts, including the exchange of visits between the foreign policy and economic institutions of the two countries.

The prospects for expanding trade and economic cooperation were also discussed in such areas as transport, energy, information technologies, agriculture and others.Special attention was given to enhancing contacts between business communities, organizing business missions, and encouraging the participation of Slovak companies in exhibitions and forums in Turkmenistan.

In addition, the sides considered opportunities for expanding cooperation in the humanitarian sphere, including education and culture.
