Prospects for cooperation between Turkmenistan and UNFPA discussed

On 27 March 2026, a meeting was held between Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan Myahri Byashimova and Regional Director of the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) for Eastern Europe and Central Asia, Ms.Florence Bauer, as well as UNFPA Country Director in Turkmenistan, Ms.Chinwe Ogbonna.

About this reports MFA of Turkmenistan.During the meeting, the sides noted the high level of cooperation between Turkmenistan and UNFPA.Particular attention was paid to the implementation of the UNFPA Country Programme for Turkmenistan for 20262030, as well as cooperation in the areas of reproductive and maternal health, promotion of gender equality, and the formation of healthy social norms among youth.

The successful implementation of the National Action Plan on Gender Equality for 2021-2025, as well as the preparation of the next cycle of the Plan for the period 2026-2030, were discussed.

At the conclusion of the meeting, the sides expressed mutual interest in further strengthening partnership and confirmed their readiness to implement joint projects within the framework of the new Country Programme.
