Carlos Queiroz has left his post as head coach of the Qatar national football team, reports the press service of the Qatar Football Association (QFA).

The Portuguese specialist has led the team since February 2023. His contract was valid until the 2026 World Cup.

The new head coach of the Qatar national team is the Spaniard Bartolome Marques Lopez, who also heads the Qatari club “Al-Wakrah”.

In November, Qatar won two victories in the second round of World Cup qualifying, defeating Afghanistan (8:1) and India (3:0).

Let us remind that Qatar will host the Asian Cup in January-February 2024. The Qatar national team is the current winner of the Asian Cup. In 2019, she triumphantly performed at a tournament in the UAE.
