Queues in front of Turkmenistan’s ATMs continue to grow

The number of people standing in line in front of Ashgabat ATMs is growing. Correspondents of “Chronicles of Turkmenistan” report that up to several hundred people queue up in front of each cash machine early in the morning.

Queues are being formed in front of Turkmenbank offices, including the one located on Baba Annanov street, ATMs at Bereketli bazaar, in the residential district Parakhat-7 and many others. At weekends it is possible to make cash withdrawals only from cash machines located at Tekin bazaar.

Because of queues and restrictions residents managed to withdraw their June salaries from bank cards only in late July.

According to correspondents of “Chronicles of Turkmenistan”, in early August even retirees failed to make cash withdrawals.

You spend time in the queue and then the message pops out that there is no cash available on the account. Retirement allowances used to be transferred to bank cards on the first of the second of each month to be withdrawn but there is no cash available now, people said.

Cases have become more frequent when ATMs not only prevent cash withdrawals but bank cards get stuck in cash machines. This is quite common in the ATMs owned by Rysgal bank.

On Sunday, 4 August, several customers failed to get back the banks cards which got stuck in the ATMs of the aforementioned bank located in the shopping mall “15 years of independence”.

Let us recall that the problems related to cash withdrawals in Ashgabat banks were first recorded in early July.

The news outlet turkmen.news also reports that the situation with regard to cash withdrawals in Turkmenistan became worse and that residents are queuing up in front of ATMs at night. Arguments and fights occur in the queues.
