Regional partners discussed the role of the Turkmenbashy seaport as a transit hub

Today, a round table was held online on the topic: “The role of the international seaport of Turkmenbashy as a transit hub for Central Asian exports.”

As reported on the website of the Turkmen Sea and River Routes agency, the discussion was attended by exporters, shippers, forwarders, carriers, logistics companies of Central Asian countries, key transport and logistics agencies of Turkmenistan, the Ministry of Transport of Tajikistan, the Intergovernmental Commission (IGC) TRACECA, the Ministry transport of Uzbekistan, as well as industry regional associations.

The purpose of the event is to increase awareness of the services provided by the Turkmenbashy International Seaport and familiarize participants with alternative cargo transportation routes.

During the round table, practical issues on cargo transportation were discussed, including transportation through the Turkmenbashy International Seaport, transportation schedules and rates, forwarding services, logistics services, paperwork, and issues of transit procedures.

The meeting was organized by the Turkmen Logistics Association and CILT Central Asia with the support of the USAID Central Asia Trade Program, the source notes.
