The repatriation flight bound to Turkmenabad, operated by Turkmenistan Airlines, was scheduled to depart at 3 p.m. on 22 April from “Domodedovo” airport in Moscow, according to the departures board.
According to sources at “Chronicles of Turkmenistan”, several hundreds of Turkmen nationals came to “Domodedovo” airport from different cities of Russia. In order to return to their home country some of Turkmen citizens arrived in Moscow a few days ago.
The Embassy of Turkmenistan does not answer the calls. Passengers who have got stranded at the airport have no water or food.
We have failed to find out the reasons behind the flight cancellation.Passengers of the cancelled flight say that this is related to the tightened security regime in Turkmenistan.
A few days ago it transpired that because of the death of the father of President Gurbanguly Berdymukhammedov police officers and military personnel in the velayats of Turkmenistan had been transferred to tightened regime and the checkpoint Farap located on the border with Uzbekistan had been closed.
It was previously reported that two repatriation flights from Moscow to Turkmenabat were scheduled to depart on 22 and 29 April, 2021.
