Rice Harvest Starts in Turkmenistan’s Dashoguz

The harvest of new rice crop kicked off in Turkmenistan’s northern velayat of Dashoguz. This season, 8,100 hectares of land have been allotted for rice fields in the region, the country’s official media reported on Tuesday.

The farmers of the region mainly farm high-yielding and disease-resistant rice varieties pf Nukus-2, Munbashi and Alenga, which have adapted to local soil and climatic conditions.

Farmers of S.A. Niyazov and 27-nji Oktyabr specialized farmers' associations in Saparmyrat Turkmenbashi etrap are the main producers of this culture in the northern region of the country. They aim to receive 40-45 centners of rice per hectare.

Around 35 thousand tons of rice are expected to be harvested in Dashoguz veleyat this year.

A modern high-tech rice-cleaning enterprise operates in Saparmyrat Turkmenbashi etrap. The rice processed in this enterprise is reportedly of high quality and is in high demand in the domestic market.
