Russia Imports Watermelons From Turkmenistan

Russia imported 23.2 tons of Turkmen watermelon through its customs points in Krasnodar Krai, the Press Service of the Southern Interregional Directorate of the country’s Federal Service for Veterinary and Phytosanitary Supervision (Rosselkhoznadzor) announced last Thursday.

The country also imported through the customs point in Krasnodar Krai 11,116 tons of watermelons from Turkey and 108.9 tons of watermelons from Egypt, accoding to the statement.

In addition to watermelons, melons from Turkey (1,743 tons) and Egypt (14 tons) entered Russia through this customs points.

The consignments of watermelons and melons were accompanied by the necessary phytosanitary certificates issued by the authorized body of the sending state, passed phytosanitary control and were authorized for sale, Rosselkhoznadzor noted.

According to the State Statistics Committee of Turkmenistan, in the first half of 2021, local farmers grew 9.5% more vegetables and 1.5% more gourds compared to the same period last year.
