Russian Companies Intend to Participate in Turkmen Railways’ Modernization

Representatives of Russian railway companies and Turkmenistan’s Demirýollary OJSC in an online meeting discussed the planned projects for the construction and modernization of the railways in Turkmenistan, the Ministry of Industry and Trade of Russia reported on Thursday.

The Russian side was represented by specialists of Russian Railways JSC and RZD International LLC.

RZD International LLC, as part of its participation in planned projects, has proposed an integrated approach to the construction, modernization and efficiency improvement of the railways of Turkmenistan.

During the meeting, the Turkmen side confirmed its interest in cooperation with Russian companies on the implementation of the project for the construction and electrification of the railway along the 1,150-km Turkmenabat-Ashgabat-Turkmenbashi route.

The Turkmen side also expressed interest in cooperation on the project of electrification of the Ashgabat-Dashoguz railway line with a length of 522 km.

In turn, Russian officials declared their readiness to provide the latest technologies and the necessary equipment for the implementation of the railway projects.

In particular, the Turkmen representatives undertook to further provide the Russian side with all the necessary documentation to study the technical side of the projects, and a feasibility study for organizing the financing of these projects.

Following the meeting, the parties expressed mutual satisfaction with the current state of interaction and outlined plans for further cooperation.
