Science Day Celebrated in Turkmenistan

Today, the international scientific conference “Science, Technology and Innovative Technologies in the Era of the Revival of the New Epoch of the Powerful State” commenced at the Oguz Han Engineering and Technology University of Turkmenistan named.

The event is dedicated to Science Day, which is widely celebrated throughout the country.The two-day international conference, organized by the Academy of Sciences of Turkmenistan, has brought together Turkmen scientists as well as heads and representatives of academies of sciences and higher education institutions from a number of countries.

Before the opening of the forum, which is being held in a hybrid format, participants familiarized themselves with an exhibition of innovative technologies and achievements in the scientific and educational sectors of our country, including advanced developments and new projects.

At the beginning of the plenary session, an Address by President Serdar Berdimuhamedov to the conference participants was read aloud.In his message, the President emphasized that every achievement and every significant breakthrough in the development of the independent and neutral Motherland is the result of efforts focused on scientific and innovative accomplishments.

The head of state expressed confidence that the events dedicated to this remarkable holiday, including the conference, would inspire the citizens of Turkmenistan, especially the scientific community, to achieve even greater successes and strengthen their love for the Motherland!

Scientists from various countries then presented reports on their research activities.Among them were President of the National Academy of Sciences of Azerbaijan Isa Habibbeyli, Vice President of the Russian Academy of Sciences Viktor Rudenko, Professor Kaiyun Guan of the Xinjiang Institute of Ecology and Geography of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, Scientific Director of the Apple Developer Academy at the University of Naples Federico II (Italy) Giorgio Ventre, Executive Director of the Turkic History and Culture Foundation (TÜRKTAV) Asel Lakhayeva, Professor Hyunjung Kang of Seoul National University (Republic of Korea), Member of the Council of the Turkish Academy of Sciences Ismail Koyuncu, Director General of the Juma Al Majid Center for Culture and Heritage (Egypt) Mohammed Kamel Gad, as well as participants joining digitally, including President of the Academy of Sciences of Uzbekistan Shavkat Ayupov, Chairman of the Presidium of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus Vladimir Karanik, and President of the Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Tatarstan of the Russian Federation Rifkat Minnikhanov.

Speakers noted that science and innovation currently play a key role in the sustainable development of economies and societies.In this regard, they emphasized the importance of training highly qualified specialists and consistently strengthening scientific research potential.

Particular attention was given to the need for expanding cooperation among research institutions in different countries and to the significance of the current conference as a platform for such collaboration.

The participants stressed that the pace and scale of transformation in the modern world continue to grow, especially in the fields of science and technology.Turkmenistan places great importance on the development of academic science, and the current international conference serves as clear evidence of the country’s commitment to expanding scientific cooperation.

It was noted that extensive work is being carried out in Azerbaijan to study and promote the literary heritage of the great Turkmen poet Magtymguly Fragi.The operation of the Magtymguly Fragi Center for Turkmen Literature at the Nizami Ganjavi Institute of Literature of the National Academy of Sciences of Azerbaijan was highlighted as evidence of increasing cooperation between the academies of sciences of the two countries.

Likewise, Turkmenistan is undertaking large-scale efforts to study the literary works of Nizami Ganjavi and publish them in the Turkmen language.These activities demonstrate that Turkmen-Azerbaijani cooperation in literary studies has reached a new level.

The conference also highlighted the importance of Turkmen-Uzbek cooperation in science, education, and innovation.As noted, the bilateral agreement on scientific and technical cooperation signed in 2021 between the Academy of Sciences of Turkmenistan and the Academy of Sciences of Uzbekistan serves as a solid foundation for strengthening scientific ties.

In recent years, cooperation between specialized institutions of the two countries has intensified, with joint projects being implemented in chemistry, agriculture, genetics, seismology, humanities, ecology, and energy.Academic cooperation and the exchange of experience are important not only for the scientific development of Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan but also for strengthening scientific interaction throughout Central Asia.

The issue of expanding scientific cooperation between Turkmenistan and Belarus was also discussed during the conference.Another topic of discussion was scientific collaboration between Turkmenistan and the Russian Federation.

Participants noted that long-term strategies, including priority areas for scientific development and platforms for bilateral cooperation, provide a strong foundation for joint work by Turkmen and Russian scientists.

Key areas of partnership are based on the considerable intellectual potential of the academies of sciences of both countries and international science and technology parks, particularly in energy, nanotechnology, ecology, the digital economy, and modern medicine.

The conference also focused on the unique characteristics of Central Asia’s flora, contemporary biodiversity conservation strategies, and sustainable ecosystem development.Speakers noted that Central Asia is the region of origin or widespread distribution of many plant species, fruit trees, and agricultural crops.

In this context, the importance of establishing national parks and botanical gardens to prevent threats to environmental stability, as well as enhancing international cooperation in this field, was emphasized.

Another important topic concerned new technologies for the production of innovative pharmaceuticals.Particular attention was paid to the scientific foundations for developing high-quality medicines that improve human health and strengthen immunity through the application of the latest scientific achievements, as well as to the significant potential available in this field.

The international scientific conference also underscored the importance of extensively using digital technologies in the study and preservation of historical and cultural heritage.Participants highlighted the need for digitizing, restoring, and collecting rare historical sources and elements of intangible cultural heritage preserved in foreign countries’ archives.

At the conclusion of the plenary session, participants expressed confidence in the further development of scientific cooperation and conveyed their gratitude to the President of Turkmenistan and Hero-Arkadag for the high level of organization of the forum.

In the afternoon, participants of the international conference “Science, Technology and Innovative Technologies in the Era of the Revival of the New Epoch of the Powerful State” attended as honored guests the award ceremony for the winners of the scientific works competition among the youth of Turkmenistan, as well as a festive concert dedicated to Science Day.

On June 13, the conference will continue its work in the following sections: at the Yagshygeldi Kakayev International Oil and Gas University - “Nanotechnology, Chemical Technologies, New Materials Research, and Energy”; at the International Scientific-Technological Park of the Academy of Sciences of Turkmenistan “Biotechnology, Molecular Biology, Agriculture, Ecology, and Genetics”; at the Institute of Telecommunications and Informatics of Turkmenistan “Information and Communication Systems and Computer Technologies”; at the Turkmen State Medical University named after Myrat Garryyev “Modern Medicine and Pharmaceutical Production Technologies”; at the Turkmen State Institute of Economics and Management “Innovative Economy”; at Magtymguly Turkmen State University “Humanities”.

A cultural program has been prepared for the foreign guests, including visits to the capital’s landmarks.Meetings with researchers from scientific institutions, faculty mambers, and students from our country’s higher education institutions are also planned as part of the conference program.
