Scientists and agrarian experts from the CIS countries note the success of Turkmenistan in seed production sphere

Turkmen Agricultural University hosted the conference dedicated to the achievements in seed production sphere, which brought together representatives of profile ministries and departments of our country, international agrarian companies, scientists and agricultural producers, managers and experts.

Teachers and students of agricultural university have also taken part in the meeting.The event was forestalled by the familiarization with profile exposition, which demonstrated the samples of seeds of grains, pulses and vegetable crops of national section sphere.

Foreign guests familiarized the description of potential of wheat species cultivated in Turkmenistan, which include Turkmenbashy 1 with gluten up to 34 percent as well as paprika, cucumbers, water melon, tomatoes and pumpkin.

Exhibition sections presented wide variety of bakery, packed flour of high and first class, other production of food industry.Deputy Chairman of Intergovernmental Coordination Council for Seed Production of the Commonwealth of Independent States, Academic of the Academy of Science of Russian Federation Ivan Kuzmin, who was awarded with the Order of Bitaraplyk for the contribution to the development of the economy of Turkmenistan, was honoured participant of the event.

I.Kuzmin noted that the establishment of growing class of Turkmen farmers is mainly the merit of President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, who responded to the call for cooperation in seed production and selection sphere 12 years ago, supported active participation of the country in the process of coordination of exchange of seed in the CIS.

Seeds of fast growing Bat’ko and Yubileynaya 100 with good bread making features was sent to Turkmenistan for test in 2008.It is worth mentioning that these species have number of valuable features high production, resistance to diseases, drought and heat resistance, high response to optimization of cultivation, which is very important for initial zoning and further selection.

Shortly after that, Turkmenistan has entered the number of wheat exporters in 2011.We actively cooperate with the Ministry of Agriculture and Natural Protection.Formation of digital base of the results of selection studies, improvement of competitions and enhancement of logistics are priority vectors of our cooperation.

I.Kuzmin highlighted that import substitution is not required for seed production in the CIS countries as we have everythingwhat is necessary for scientific work and production.Director of Russian Scientific and Research Institute, Doctor of Agricultural Sciences, Professor Sergey Garkusha expressed the gratitude for the opportunity to take part in the event and highlighted that he is interested to visit the university, which teach technologists, agronomists, producers of agricultural production and wished them successful study.

Russian scientist spoke of the work of his Institute, which works with vegetable crops and potato and recently, restored selection fund of the bean.The Institute supported 54 species of rice, among which according to specialists, Turkmenistan may be interested in Partner, Ropan, Hazar.

S.Garkusha invited Turkmen colleagues to the Day of Rice Celebration in the end of August and highlighted that he hopes for continuation of the dialog with Turkmen scientists.

General Director of Schelkovo Agrochim Joint Stock Venture, Doctor of Chemical Sciences, Academic of Russian Academy of Sciences Salis Karakotov said that after the merging with the Scientific and Research Institute of Plant Protection, the joint venture went beyond the limit of profile specialization and includes the events for increment of production of wheat.

There are species for dry territories among 17 species, with which the work is continued.High protein wheat Moskovsakya 56 underwent successful tests in Turkmenistan.Having congratulated the grain producers with working victory, Russian guest said that 1,650,000 tons of wheat is a record but can this figure be increased?

Taking into account the complication of farming is arid climate conditions, specialists would give positive reply but adapted seeds are required for this.S.Karakotov also said that he visited Mary Velayat recently where he was watching the sowing of the beetroot, having noted that Schelkovo Agrochim is ready to improve the base for development of this segment of agricultural complex.

Aspects of combating of bacterial and fungal diseases of grain crops have been discussed with Turkmen colleagues.It was noted that this direction is under attention of russian Russiansts who are willing to supply new preventive chemicals for test in local conditions.

In the afternoon, the work of the forum was continued in the format of sectional sessions, which were held in Turkmen State Agricultural University as well as in conference hall of administration building of Agricultural Complex.

Dozens of reports, presentation, scientific esses have been presented.Current issues of seed production, seed approbations and agricultural innovation shave been discussed.Honouring of wheat producers the heroes of current harvest campaign, was held in the amphitheatre of the Independence Park. 30 people, which success were noted by the Certificates and valuable prizes on behalf of the President of Turkmenistan, have been awarded.
