Serdar Berdimuhamedov: Balkan Power Plant to Provide Electricity For Türkiye

Turkmen President Serdar Berdimuhamedov announced that construction of a new 1,574-megawatt power plant will soon begin near Turkmenbashi in the Balkan province. The power plant is expected to supply electricity to Türkiye, as discussed during talks with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan.

Local specialists will carry out the construction in cooperation with Turkish partners, official Turkmen media reported on Thursday.

Serdar Berdimuhamedov proposed possibly exporting electricity to Türkiye via transit countries. Additionally, Turkmen President Serdar Berdimuhamedov and Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan discussed the transportation of Turkmen natural gas to Türkiye through the Caspian Sea.
