Her Majesty Queen Margarethe II (Margrethe Alexandrine Torhildur Ingrid) was born in Amalienborg Palace on the 16th of April 1940. The Queen of Denmark has been the head of the Danish State since the 14th of January 1972.
Margrethe II is a great-great-great-granddaughter of Emperor Nicholas I of Russia, a cousin of King Carl XVI Gustaf of Sweden, a fourth cousin of Queen Elizabeth of Great Britain.
