South Korean Companies May Participate in Turkmen Railroad Projects

South Korean government entities and private companies may participate in strategic railroad projects of Turkmenistan, according to the statement issued by Turkmen Embassy in Republic of Korea following the online meeting between management of Türkmendemiryollary (Turkmen Railways) Agency and representatives of the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport of the Republic of Korea and state company Korea National Railway on Wednesday.

According to the report, the Turkmen Side has expressed its interest in strengthening cooperation with Korean entities, both government and private, involved in the railroad construction, railway electrification, signaling, railroad infrastructure construction and other related fields.

Both parties also acknowledged the importance of conducting face-to-face bilateral negotiations to further discuss the participation of Korean government agencies and companies in Turkmenistan's strategic railroad projects. They agreed to explore the possibility of arranging a visit by Korean railroad officials to Turkmenistan within this year.

Turkmenistan expressed appreciation for Korea's strong interest in enhancing bilateral cooperation and extended an invitation to representatives from the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport of the Republic of Korea, Korea Railroad Corporation, and Korea National Railway to attend the upcoming 16th Central Asia-the Republic of Korea Cooperation Forum in Ashgabat on November 1, 2023.

The meeting concluded with both sides expressing hope for successful outcomes in their bilateral cooperation in the field of railroad transportation.
