President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov launched spring mass planting campaign in Turkmenistan on Saturday, the country’s official media reported. The tree planting took place in the southern part of Ashgabat.
According to the report, President Berdimuhamedov planted the first sapling at the mass planting event, kicking off the spring planting campaign.
The event was attended by the representatives of foreign missions, young people and citizens from different regions of Turkmenistan.
According to the relevant Decree of the President of Turkmenistan, 3 million saplings of various trees and vines are planned to be planted this year in order to ensure the country's ecological prosperity and to expand the boundaries of forest zones. During this spring's planting season, 1.5 million seedlings will be planted.
A mass planting event was also organized in Arkadag city in Ahal province with the participation of the Chairman of Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov.
