Sub-regional training center for emergency medical care will be created in Ashgabat

The issue of establishing a sub-regional training center for emergency medical care on the basis of the International Educational and Scientific Center in Ashgabat was considered by representatives of the WHO headquarters, WHO/Europe, the WHO mission in Turkmenistan, the Ministry of Health and Medical Industry and the Ministry of Defense of Turkmenistan.

This issue was addressed as part of the World Health Organization's emergency medical response initiative to strengthen the region's response to public health emergencies and other natural disasters.

Launched in 2010, the WHO Emergency Medical Teams initiative aims to strengthen the capacity of countries to prepare for and respond to health emergencies by building and deploying quality-assured medical teams.

Earlier, we reported that Turkmenistan and WHO discussed ways to increase the capacity of the national emergency medical system.
