TASS: Turkmenistan’s Foreign Minister supports Japan in the North Korea problem

The negotiations of Ministers for Foreign Affairs of Japan Fumio Kishida and Rashid Meredov of Turkmenistan have been held in Ashgabat.

“Both ministers agreed to launch negotiations devoted to the bilateral economic agreement and also agreed that the sides would undertake further steps to strengthen the economic relations”, — TASS reports quoting the Foreign Ministry of Japan.

Furthermore, the ministers discussed international issues. In particular, Meredov voiced support to Japan with regard to the North Korea problem. The sides also exchanged opinions on the situation in Afghanistan.

On Monday Kishida is scheduled to take part in the dialogue “Central Asia plus Japan” held in Ashgabat, which is expected to bring together the heads of foreign ministers of Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan.

Two weeks earlier negotiations with the delegation from North Korea were held in Turkmenistan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

In the course of the meeting the sides expressed bilateral interest in developing relations in the framework of international organizations, according to the state information agency TDH.
