On 19 May President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdymukhammedov rode round the capital on a bicycle.
The state information agency TDH reports that “early in the morning, during sunrise, the head of state cycled from the foothills of Kopetdag to the centre of the capital on a sports bike”.
“The President arrived at the place where the path to health ends on a bike.The bicycle track continued along Archabil avenue in Ashgabat.Then the route stretched along Bitarap Turkmenistan avenue to Independence Square.
The head of state finished his bicycle ride at the State Tribune and proceeded to the Palace complex “Oguzkhan”.Thus, Gurbanguly Berdymukhammedov covered a distance of 30 kilometers to get to his workplace”, — TDH reported.
If the distance of this route is calculated with the help of Google maps, the distance from the path to health to the Presidential palace amounts to 15 kilometers.
However, according to TDH, the head of state “arrived at the place where the path to health ends on a bike” The distance of 30 kilometers would have been covered given that the President started his bike ride at his residence in Firyuza.
This time President was riding a premium brand BMW Cruise Bike NBG III bicycle, which costs about $1 300.
President Berdymukhammedov last headed the large-scale bicycle race in honour of the Day of Health held on 7 April.
Large-scale sports events will be held in Turkmenistan on 3 June on occasion of the Day of the Bicycle.
