Today, the capital city hosted the exhibition of carpets and carpet products as well as XXVI conference of the World Association of Connoisseurs of Turkmen Handmade Carpets, timed to the holiday of the Turkmen carpet annually marked on the last Sunday of May.
In the Era of Revival of the new epoch of the powerful state, noble initiatives of Hero-Arkadag on popularisation of national heritage successfully are widely promoted under the leadership of President Serdar Berdimuhamedov. In the given context, the special attention is given to perfection of the art of carpet weaving inherited from ancestors.
This holiday in honour of the unique ancient art of carpet weaving, created by our people, is marked as a symbol of high respect for work of skilled carpet weavers and in glory of Turkmen carpets. Therefore, it is of great importance in popularisation of graceful Turkmen carpets in the world and underlines adherence to traditions of ancestors.
The Turkmen carpet is not only a fine work of art, but also a perfect reflexion of centuries-old history, the inner world and culture of our people.Carpets, which throughout millennia have amazed the world with their uniqueness and fineness, are a remarkable creation of Turkmen skilled weavers.
Patterns, ornaments and colours of carpets reflect the historical way of our people, its philosophy and outlook.
In our country, the state attaches particular attention to the art of carpet weaving. Inclusion of the holiday of Turkmen carpet into the list of significant dates, which are annually marked at the state level, also attests clearly to the fact.
Ornaments of the carpet, which serves an attribute of Turkmen life - an integral element of the state symbols of independent neutral Turkmenistan, personify the unity and coherence of our people and its loyalty to precepts of ancestors.
Besides it, carpet göls are widely used in the architectural shape of the white marble-coated capital.It is necessary to point out that in September 2016.the international airport of Ashgabat was included in the Guinness Book of Records for the architectural feature of the passenger terminal, which has received the name the biggest gol.
The inclusion of Turkmen national art of carpet weaving in the List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity of UNESCO has confirmed again that the carpets, which are an integral attribute of life, are recognised as the fine monument of cultural property in the treasury of universal values.
… The national museum of the Turkmen carpet became the venue of main festive events in the capital. There, the exhibition of classical and modern original works of national carpet art was held.
On the square adjoining to the museum, a stage-by-stage process of creation of carpet products was created in the open-air.
The festive atmosphere was supported by performances of musical groups, in bright compositions of which fine Turkmen carpets were glorified.
Chairwoman of the Mejlis, heads of ministries and departments, heads of diplomatic missions accredited in our country and international organisations, representatives of public organisations and the mass-media took part in the opening ceremony of the exhibition.
Participants of the celebration heard with close attention the welcoming message of President Serdar Berdimuhamedov, in which it is noticed that the magnificent Turkmen carpets created by the talent and wisdom of Turkmen women and amaze the world by the meticulousness, brightness of natural paints, is a sample of the beauty, which has increased the treasury of universal civilisation.
The national art of carpet making, products of which have no analogues in the world, is an ancient art.Our cultural wealth originating from time immemorial has found its due reflection.
Carpet ornaments and patterns, in which women put their aspiration, outlook and expectation of heart, provide guidance on vital values of our ancestors.Our carpets amazing all with refinement, silky softness, colour palette and improbable beauty, personify the best lines of our people, its national features, inexhaustible love to the language, art, noble traditions and customs, the message of the head of the state underlines.
Magnificent carpets and carpet products created by skilled workers at enterprises of Türkmenhaly State Association and in private workshops are presented in expositions. Among exhibits - traditional carpets with classical göls, products of various forms and decorative solutions. Among them are new artworks recreated on reproductions of ancient Turkmen carpets.
Along with magnificent carpets at the exhibition one could see various carpet products, which throughout centuries took an important place in the everyday life of Turkmen people, - chuvals, khorjuns, subjects of horse trappings, plain-woven carpet products and prayer rugs.
Besides it, wonderful portraits created as a result of creative cooperation of designers and master weavers, art panels with the image of picturesque nature of Turkmenistan, and refined products from silk became a highlight of the exhibition.
Among the exhibits presented by local businesspersons, working in the sphere of carpet weaving were various souvenir production and unique products of decorative and applied arts.
Then, according to the Decree of the President of Turkmenistan, workers of carpet enterprises, who for their big merits in development of the national art of carpet making in our independent neutral fatherland, glorification of the unsurpassed beauty and meticulousness of Turkmen carpets, which are pride of our people, creation of carpet art ornaments, considering diligent, self-denying work throughout many years and professionalism, were honoured and on the occasion of the holiday of Turkmen carpet, the honorary title Türkmenistanyň at gazanan halyçysy were conferred upon them.
The holders of awards expressed warm gratitude to President Serdar Berdimuhamedov for indefatigable care of preservation of national property, creation of all conditions for transfer of traditions of art of carpet weaving to future generations, training of talented carpet makers and for assignment of the high honorary title.
Besides it, the ceremony of awarding of the special diploma of the International organisation of Turkic culture (TURKSOY) to Türkmenhaly State Association for the contribution to development of carpet craft in the Turkic world, and certificates of excellence to the best skilled workers of the branch took place.
TURKSOY Secretary General Sultan Rayev, who spoke at the ceremony underlined that today in Turkmenistan the holiday of Turkmen carpet an invaluable property not only of the Turkmen people, but also of the entire Turkic world is widely celebrated.
As was marked, carpets are not simply textile products, and material assets, which have incorporated historical roots, art of creativity and spiritual heritage of the Turkic people, being a significant contribution in world culture.
In that connection, Sultan Rayev on behalf of the International Organisation of Turkic culture thanked Türkmenhaly State Association and the best carpet weavers for merits in development and perfection of ancient craft of carpet weaving in modern conditions and handed the special diploma and certificates of appreciation.
At the end, the concert of workers of art of the country, devoted to the holiday of Turkmen carpet was held.
… In the second half of the day, in the conference hall of State Association Türkmenhaly XXVI conference of the World Association of Connoisseurs of Turkmen Handmade Carpets was held. Heads of local profile structures, scientists and workers of education, culture and art, representatives of scientific and business circles of the world and others took part in it.
As speakers marked, the carpet is the national property and pride of Turkmen people.At present, preservation of centuries-old traditions of carpet making art, their wide popularisation at the international level and transfer to future generations among priority areas of the state policy realised under the leadership of the President of Turkmenistan.
As a result of consecutive work, the national art of carpet making has embarked onto the new path of development.Construction and commissioning of modern carpet manufactures in different regions of our fatherland, and constant improvement of working conditions and living standards of carpet weavers in the Era of Revival of the new epoch of the powerful state attests to the fact.
In speeches of foreign visitors, it was underlined that Turkmen carpets amaze with their unique appearance and originality of patterns, and their ornamental motives, national features of culture and ancient traditions. At that, it was stated that efforts of Turkmenistan on preservation of this art form could serve as a general example.
As was marked, Turkmen carpets woven with use of non-polluting raw materials and natural dyes, are included into number of the most demanded and valuable products in the world.
In carpet patterns, one can see a reflexion of beauty of Turkmen steppes, features of the life of Turkmen people.The guests, who have taken part in celebrations on the occasion of the holiday of Turkmen carpet, expressed warm gratitude to President Serdar Berdimuhamedov for the possibility to familiarise with the many-sided heritage of the national carpet weaving, original culture of people and variety of areas of Turkmen carpet art glorified in the whole world.
Then, the XXVI conference of the World Association of Connoisseurs of Turkmen Handmade Carpets continued its work in sections Heavenly beauty and The Live legend.
At the end of celebrations on the occasion of the holiday of Turkmen carpet, participants of the exhibition of carpets and carpet products, and the XXVI conference of the World Association of Connoisseurs of Turkmen Handmade Carpets accepted the letter of thanks to President Serdar Berdimuhamedov, in which they expressed gratitude for his active care of development and augmentation of glorious traditions of the national art of carpet weaving and created favourable conditions for expansion of international cooperation in this sphere.
On the margins of the holiday of Turkmen carpet, meetings, exhibitions, scientific conferences, creative competitions, concerts and other events were organized all over the country.
