The city Khiva of Uzbekistan was declared the tourist capital of the Islamic world

The decision to declare Khiva the tourism capital of the Islamic world was made within the framework of the XI session of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC). The Ministry of Tourism and Cultural Heritage of Uzbekistan reported about this.

It is noted that Abu Dhabi (UAE), Sanliurfa (Türkiye), Lagos (Nigeria) and Dushanbe (Tajikistan) also claimed this nomination.

Members (OIC) recognized the reforms carried out by the Government of Uzbekistan in the field of tourism as key factors for victory - visa facilitation, preservation of cultural heritage and improvement of historical cities.

The work on restoring the historical appearance of Khiva, restoration and conservation work, and the dismantling of electric poles, creating conditions for a greater flow of tourists, improving infrastructure, and building five-star hotels, hotels and hostels was noted separately.
