A bike ride organized by the Embassy of Turkmenistan in the People’s Republic of China and the China University of Petroleum - Beijing took place in the sports complex of the University on the World Bicycle Day.
The competitions started with the bike ride that brought together the head and specialists of the diplomatic mission of Turkmenistan as well as the representatives of the embassies of foreign states, accredited in Beijing, the heads of public and sports organizations, the mass media of China, and more than 200 Turkmen students, getting higher education in the Beijing universities.
Those speaking during the solemn ceremony emphasized the importance of the adoption of the resolution declaring June 3rd as the World Bicycle Day during the 72nd Regular Session of the UN General Assembly on the initiative of President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov and the leading role of our country in popularizing cycling.
It was noted that the present event vividly exemplifies the fruitful cooperation between Turkmenistan and China in the humanitarian sphere and reflects the youth’s commitment to practicing sports, including cycling.
Postgraduate student of the China University of Petroleum - Beijing Jahan Saryeva was the first, first-year student of the China University of Petroleum - Beijing Jennet Kakabaeva was the second, and student of the Beijing University of Technology Ogulgozel Agahanova ranked the third among women.
Students of the China University of Petroleum - Beijing Magtymguly Gurtgeldiev and Wepa Annaberdiev demonstrated the best results, first-year student of the Beijing University of Chemical Technology Kemal Koshekov was the third in the men’s contest.
Valuable gifts were awarded to the winners.
