The economy of Turkmenistan demonstrated high growth rates in key macroeconomic indicators in 2023. Economic commentator Valentin Trapeznikov commented on them for Vestiabad.ru.
As reported during an extended meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers of Turkmenistan following the results of 2023, the gross domestic product (GDP) of Turkmenistan increased by 6,3% compared to the previous year. Total production volume increased by 7,8%.
As Trapeznikov noted, record GDP growth is ensured by the dynamic development of all sectors of the economy. Metallurgy, light industry and food industries showed particularly high growth rates.
Trade and the transport and communications complex also made a significant contribution. The business sector demonstrated an increase in the production of agricultural products by 11,7%, manufactured goods - by 6,7%.
“Thus, in 2023, the economy of Turkmenistan showed high dynamism of development, increasing diversification of industries and increasing the role of the business sector in all areas”, - the expert concluded.
