The draw date for the FIFA World Cup 2022 became known. The team distribution into groups will be held on April 1, 2022 in the capital of Qatar Doha, informs the official website of the AFC.
At the moment of the draw only 30 of the 32 World Cup participants will be known. The two remaining teams will be determined based on the results of the intercontinental play-offs, which is scheduled for early June. Four teams will play from South America, Asia, the CONCACAF zone and Oceania.
At present time, 16 participants of the final tournament are known. They are Qatar the host team, representatives of the AFC Iran and Republic of Korea, and Serbia, Spain, Switzerland, France, Belgium, Denmark, the Netherlands, Croatia, Germany, England, Brazil and Argentina.
The 32 groups will be divided into eight groups of four team each. The two best teams from the group go to the 1/8 finals, then the tournament is held according to the classical system with a knockout.
The World Cup 2022 will be held in Qatar from November 21 to December 18 2022. The final tournament matches will be played in eight stadiums. The opening match, in which the host team will definitely play, will be held on November 21 at the “Al-Bayt” stadium.
Matches of groups stages will be held from November 21 to December 2, 1/8 final December 3-6, 1/4 final December 9-10, 1/2 final December 13-14, match for the 3rd place December 17, final December 18.
