The Agama Ashgabat mountaineering club organized the first stage of the Turkmenistan Skyrunning Cup. The race that brought together more than 60 athletes of different age took place on the slopes of the Markou Mountain with the elevation changes of more than 1,000 metres. The race distance was 18 km.
It should be noted that the race track conditions were difficult because of the rains.Therefore, the organizers took care of the safety of skyrunners they placed the markers on the way to the top - on the rocky ledges, descents and ascents that served as the guides for the participants of the race.
The panel of judges the members of the judicial brigade watched the race at the top of the mountain and at the control points.
The winner of the 2018 Turkmenistan Cup, Master of Sports Alekper Akhmedov demonstrated the best result, running the distance in 2 hours and 55 minutes.Agadurdy Hydyrov ranked the second with the result 3 hours and 10 minutes, Sergey Arhipov took the third place, running the distance in 3 hours and 45 minutes.
Among women, Nastya Loskareva demonstrated the best result.Gozel Ataeva was the second and Nadia Kostova ranked the third.

Every year, the Turkmenistan Skyrunning Cup is held in five stages.The mountain marathon routes are laid on the peaks of the Dushak-Erikdag, Markou, Harlasang, Arlan Mountains, as well as along the Path of Health.
